Here you will find information about poster creation guidelines, judging criteria, Early Investigator of the Year Award and also winners of previous awards.

Poster Guidelines:

  • Portrait (use poster template provided)
  • Size: A0 (87.1cm x 121.9cm) (Please note this is slightly bigger than A0 but this is purposively to allow for printer cutting – leave room around the margins for this)
  • Title: large title (80 to 90 point)
  • Authors: (50 to 60 point)
  • Affiliations: (45 to 55 point)
  • Headings: (40 to 50 point)
  • Text: (30 to 40 point)
  • Use figures and tables to present results
  • Follow outline of abstract (Introduction, Methods, Result, Conclusion) • Print your poster in good time and bring it with you to the Conference
  • Please note that you will be provided with three minutes to present your poster at the event, so prepare your presentation with this in mind

 

Judging Criteria for Posters:

Research Content (40%)

  • Novel research project
  • Significant impact of project
  • Clear and sound methodology
  • Quality and persuasiveness of any data

 

Poster Organization (30%)

  • Neat, organized, and concise
  • Well-written, proper grammar
  • Clear definition of problem and solution
  • Quality and relevance of figures

 

Communication Skills (30%)

  • Student can clearly explain research to audience
  • Ability to answer questions
  • Ability to receive suggestions and criticism

 

If your abstract is accepted for the Conference, you will be notified by the Conference Committee and assigned a reference poster number. This reference number will need to be presented on the poster. Please refer to documents below for information on preparing your poster.

The format of this section of the conference will be slightly different this year with only a select few poster abstracts being nominated to present from the podium in the famous Howard Theatre. The 2018 conference will offer awards for best poster presentation and for best oral presentation.
